Stem Cells and COVID-19
In light of current events, EuroStemCell has noticed an increased promotion of unproven stem cell treatments for COVID-19 (Coronavirus). EuroStemCell would like to stress that there are currently no stem cell-derived treatments for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19. For updated information on COVID-19, please refer to the resources available from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.
Stem cells provide a rich area of research for the development of new treatments for many conditions and diseases (see: What conditions and diseases can be treated with stem cells?) However, commercially-driven marketing of unproven stem cell treatments is an ongoing concern. EuroStemCell remains dedicated to providing independent, expert-reviewed information and road-tested educational resources on stem cells and their impact on society.
About EuroStemCell
EuroStemCell is a non-profit network of European stem cell researchers dedicated to providing accurate and accessible resources for the public on stem cell research. We’re a partnership of more than 400 stem cell and regenerative medicine labs across Europe, connected via research centres, consortia, networks and hubs. Scientists, clinicians, ethicists, social scientists and science communicators are all part of the project. We also work closely with patients, educators, regulators and policy makers to foster engagement and develop material that meets their needs.
